Homeowner's Insurance Reform – would forbid the practice of insurance companies to use inquiries of coverage by a policy holder as a reason to raise the homeowner's premiums.

Senate Bill 141 - Status: Killed in Business & Labor Affairs Committee on party-line vote: 4 Republican against, 3 Democrats in favor.

This bill was amended on to House Bill 1292

Political Campaign Accountability – would require honesty in campaign materials by allowing for prosecution for recklessly lying about a candidate.

Senate Bill 031- Status: Killed in State, Veterans and Military Affars Committee on party-line vote: 4 Republican against, 3 Democrats in favor.

This bill will be reintroduced in the House by Represenative Berry.

Economic Development – would require $2 million of CAPCO monies to be allocated to nanotechnology start-up companies and research.

Senate Bill 072- Status: In House of Representatives

Treatment of Mental Illness for Children – would allocate monies for treatment of mentally ill children in residential centers without the requirement of parents giving up their child to the child welfare system.

Senate Bill 065 - Status: Pending before Appropriations Committee

Mental Health Special Districts – would allow a county or group of counties to submit to their voters the option of establishing a special taxing district for mental health funding and treatment.

Senate Bill 173 - Status: Killed In State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee on a party-line vote: 4 Republican against, 3 Democrats in favor.

This bill will be reintroduced in the House of Representatives

Senator Keller's Proposed Resolutions

Requiring a paper trial on electronic voting machines.
As the country moves forward with electronic voting machines, concerns about machine malfunction or manipulation need to be addressed. This resolution supports Federal Legislation requiring a paper trail to confirm each voter's intent should a recount be requested.

Support for Nanotechnology in Colorado
Nanotechnology (the study, and manipulation of, sub-atomic particles) is currently underway at NREL and the Colorado School of Mines. Funding for this industry is not available here, however, and we are competing with other states to become a leader in this field.
