  • Increasing the mental health benefits and eligibility for children and pregnant women in the Children’s Health Plan (CHP+), and
  • Simplifying enrollment and re-enrollment in Medicaid and CHP+ through a federal income verification system.

Dear Neighbor,

It has been an honor and a privilege for me to serve the citizens of Senate District 20 in the General Assembly for these last five years. As a member of the Joint Budget Committee, it is my responsibility to analyze, prepare, and balance the budget for presentation to the full legislature for their final adoption and approval.  Thank you to all the citizens who have contacted me and/or have attended budget hearings. Your input is vital and a valuable part of the citizen involvement necessary for setting our priorities in the State of Colorado.

My most important role this legislative session continues to be appropriating the Referendum C dollars according to the wishes of the voters. In November 2004, the citizens authorized Ref C to retain and invest dollars in our state budget in a prescribed manner.  That has been accomplished. I am proud to have been a part of the executive and legislative team that implemented the voters' will.  A full and detailed report was presented to the public this past August. Should you wish more information now, please feel free to contact me.

There is still much work to do in maintaining the quality of life here in Colorado.  We will continue to work on making health care accessible and affordable, on improving public education, on keeping higher education affordable and on preserving open space.  I believe the State of Colorado is moving in the right direction. With your continued support and involvement, we will continue to move forward together.

Sincerely,

sign
